Goal
Reduce opioid use disorder in Salt Lake County by training Family Peer Support Specialists (FPSS) and Peer Support Specialists (PSS) to support children, families, and community members affected by opioid use.
Objectives & Timeline
- May 30, 2022: Reviewed 566 pages of training manuals; provided feedback emphasizing the stages of the change model.
- June 2, 2022: Drafted recruitment emails and called organizations to recruit FPSS and PSS trainees.
- June 24, 2022: Led group discussion with 8 members during FPSS training; distributed surveys to 23 participants.
- July 14, 2022: Entered trainee data into Utah Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) spreadsheet.
- July 21, 2022: Analyzed data from 115 NEXT-UP grant trainees to identify themes and variables.
- July 29, 2022: Updated trainee records; processed tuition payments and created invoices for 56 trainees.
- August 15, 2022: Updated department budget sheet with expenses for 46 trainees.
- August 31, 2022: Organized World Overdose Awareness Day with 212 residents.
- September 8, 2022: Recruited 23 trainees for PSS training.
- September 23, 2022: Led group discussion with 11 members during PSS training; distributed surveys to 23 participants.
Activities
- Submitted monthly reports to DHRM with trainee demographics, workplace, salary, and supervisor information.
- Assisted with online and in-person training sessions; edited lesson instructions, responded to emails, and facilitated group discussions.
- Created and distributed bound training manuals (566 pages, 75 copies).
- Sent Naloxone kits to trainees and tracked distribution.
- Managed spreadsheets for trainee records, budget, and invoices.
- Promoted training via posters and social media.
- Organized World Overdose Awareness Day event with registration outreach to 550 residents.

- NEXT-UP grants enabled training of FPSS and PSS, supporting recovery and employment.
