Data Set & Variables
Data was collected from residents during the Community Health Fair and Engagement program. Variables included:
- Gender, age, education level, marital status, employment status
- Access to fresh food and medication
- Satisfaction with the program
- Healthcare utilization and barriers
- Healthy eating decisions and commitment levels
Methodology
Using Tableau Public, dashboards were generated to visualize findings across four categories:
- Demographics
- Knowledge levels post-intervention (age & education)
- Satisfaction and healthcare barriers
- Healthy eating decisions (age, education, marital status)
Key Findings
- Demographics: Majority female attendees; 50.9% lacked formal education. Males more likely to have middle school education (50.1%). Unemployment higher among singles (22%) vs. married (5%). Nearly universal health insurance coverage (99%).
- Healthcare Utilization: Individuals aged 60–65 more likely to seek medical help than those aged 100+. Surprisingly, postgraduates least likely to seek care. Average age of consistent medication purchasers: 59.25.
- Satisfaction & Barriers: 50.4% would visit a doctor if travel time <10 minutes. Self-employed with no formal education reported highest satisfaction; unemployed reported lowest. 70.8% learned about the program via promotional materials.
- Healthy Eating: Equal access to fresh produce across demographics. Consumption rates linked to travel time: <10 minutes → 85.5% of meals with fresh produce; 10–30 minutes → 78%; >30 minutes → 83%.
Implications
- Convenience strongly influences healthy eating.
- Healthcare utilization patterns vary by age and education.
- Satisfaction depends on occupation and education, requiring tailored interventions.
- Promotional materials are effective communication tools, but multi-channel strategies are needed.
Recommendations
Diversify communication strategies to broaden reach.
Improve accessibility of fresh produce and healthcare services.
Develop targeted health education for younger and highly educated groups.
Customize healthcare programs for unemployed and students.
